This international standard applies to a positive displacement pump (hereinafter “pump”) and its auxiliary devices for marine LNG fuel gas supply system (FGSS). This standard specifies test procedures and requirements for the performance test that shall be conducted in order to confirm the mechanical features of the pump and its auxiliary devices.
As a principle, LNG should be used as the medium to verify the performance of the pump. However, it may not be practical to carry out the tests with LNG prior to installation. Hence, a medium other than LNG, such as liquefied nitrogen or other fluid colder than LNG, may be used in order to conduct the test as a reference to the performance of the pump.
