The Satellite Network Modem<br \/>\nSystem (SNMS) standard defines the technical requirements for<br \/>\nmeeting the functional capabilities described in TIA\/EIA-157 [1].<br \/>\nThe SNMS standard defines the requirements for Hub-Spoke as well as<br \/>\nMesh satellite network topologies operating over<br \/>\ntransponded\/transparent satellite systems. The collection of parts<br \/>\nmaking up TIA\/EIA-1073 is depicted below in Figure 1.<\/p>\n<p>The present document, SNMS Encryption Requirements<br \/>\n(TIA\/EIA-1073-002), provides the general requirements necessary to<br \/>\nachieve security for hub-spoke and mesh network topologies. The<br \/>\ngeneral requirements that shall be met by the SNMS reference<br \/>\npublications were developed by ETSI (European Telecommunications<br \/>\nStandards Institute). These referenced publications are freely<br \/>\navailable at http:\/\/www.etsi.org. The SNMS shall fully meet the<br \/>\nDVB-S2 and DVB-RCS requirements in ETSI EN 301 790 and ETSI EN 302<br \/>\n307 [2, 3] unless otherwise specified by this document. In<br \/>\naddition, the encryption requirements specify modifications to,<br \/>\nadditions to, and\/or deletions to the specifications in [2, 3], and<br \/>\nother requirements necessary to provide the capabilities described<br \/>\nin TIA\/EIA-157.
