Specifies parameters and requirements for RF interfacing of ancillary equipment (such as VCRs, video cameras, subscription TV set-top units and electronic games) with PAL television receivers, to ensure compatibility and acceptable operational performance.

Scope

This Standard defines parameters of the interfaces and supporting leads to be used between ancillary equipment and television receiving equipment operating in accordance with Australian PAL B broadcasting standards.

NOTE: The Australian PAL broadcasting standards are detailed in the Australian Broadcasting Authority Technical Planning Guidelines, August 1995.

This Standard gives the RF requirements for signals between devices, allowing consumers to interconnect various pieces of equipment while maintaining satisfactory performance overall.

The content is presented in two parts. The 'output' specifications cover the equipment containing the modulation or sending side of the interface, while the 'input' specifications cover the reception or display side of the interface (see Figure 1). The transmission specifications also contain information related to the interconnection of multiple items of sending equipment feeding a single receiver.
