Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.1 This specification covers welded strainers in services above 150 psig or 150\u00b0<\/span>F (1 MPa and 65\u00b0<\/span>C). For welded strainers in services at or below these ratings and cast strainers, see Specification F1199.<\/p>\n

1.2 This specification provides the minimum requirements for the design fabrication, rating, marking, and testing of welded pipe line strainers for services above 0\u00b0<\/span>F (\u2212<\/span>18\u00b0<\/span>C).<\/p>\n

1.3 Strainers manufactured to this specification are acceptable for use in the marine environment.<\/p>\n

1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.<\/p>\n

1.5 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to the test methods portion, Section 8, of this specification.<\/span> This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
