{"id":372212,"date":"2024-10-20T02:28:13","date_gmt":"2024-10-20T02:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/bs-en-1793-62018a12021\/"},"modified":"2024-10-26T04:18:22","modified_gmt":"2024-10-26T04:18:22","slug":"bs-en-1793-62018a12021","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/bsi\/bs-en-1793-62018a12021\/","title":{"rendered":"BS EN 1793-6:2018+A1:2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This document describes a test method for measuring a quantity representative of the intrinsic characteristics of airborne sound insulation for traffic noise reducing devices: the sound insulation index.<\/p>\n<p>The test method is intended for the following applications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>determination of the intrinsic characteristics of airborne sound insulation of noise reducing devices to be installed along roads, to be measured either <i>in situ<\/i> or in laboratory conditions;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>determination of the <i>in situ<\/i> intrinsic characteristics of airborne sound insulation of noise reducing devices in actual use;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>comparison of design specifications with actual performance data after the completion of the construction work;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>verification of the long term performance of noise reducing devices (with a repeated application of the method);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>interactive design process of new products, including the formulation of installation manuals.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The test method is not intended for the determination of the intrinsic characteristics of airborne sound insulation of noise reducing devices to be installed in reverberant conditions, e.g.&nbsp;inside tunnels or deep trenches or under covers.<\/p>\n<p>Results are expressed as a function of frequency in one-third octave bands, where possible, between 100&nbsp;Hz and 5&nbsp;kHz.
